Brad Mahon brings nearly 30 years of experience in the post-secondary sector, succeeding in the classroom, the boardroom, and the community. As a leader in higher education, he is a passionate advocate for providing learners with a transformative educational experience and ensuring institutions actively engage with the communities they serve. His administrative tenures have consistently emphasized collaboration and cooperation, including the formation of strategic partnerships with other educational institutions, community organizations, and industry. As a college president and former university dean, he has proven success bringing program and facility initiatives to fruition—from concept to completion.
Brad is President and CEO of Great Plains College, which has six campuses serving a 100,000 sq km region in southwest and west-central Saskatchewan, Canada, on Treaty 4 and 6 Territories, and the Homeland of the Métis. He also serves on Colleges and Institutes Canada’s Board of Directors. In 2022, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in recognition of his service to the education sector. In 2025, he published his first book Leadership is Personal, which became a #1 bestseller in several of Amazon's business and leadership categories in Canada and the US. Previously, he spent 25 years at Mount Royal University, culminating in his role as Dean, while simultaneously moonlighting at the University of Calgary as an Adjunct Professor.
When no one is watching, Brad still regularly sneaks off campus to moonlight as a professional guitarist. He’s released three commercial recordings, is a member of the Canadian Federation of Musicians Local 547 and the Royal Conservatory of Music’s College of Examiners, and has served as a judge at Canada’s JUNO Awards.
